Twenty years ago on March 6, I remember walking around the yard of the house I grew up in and seeing a couple of brave yellow pansies peeking up from beneath the melting snow. I remember the date because it was my grandmother’s birthday.
This year is a more typical North Dakota March. This morning it was 17 below zero and we still have several feet of snow! But our first geranium plugs came last week, so the greenhouse smells wonderfully of soil and the promise of spring.
